Our planet’s water challenges are significant. But many of us believe water is not ‘our’ problem. Some believe only developing countries have water challenges, while others take our water for granted. We tend to believe that water droughts, quality issues and extreme flooding are things that only happen to others – not us.
The truth is that water is a real concern to all people. Because water affects everyone.
It’s time for a shift in mindset. We must all act responsibly – no matter where we live. On a political level, preventive actions must be taken through legislation and securing investments in available solutions. Companies must ensure that wastewater is properly treated, water consumption is minimised, and available water management solutions are implemented. Consumers – and society as a whole – must value water and stop taking it for granted.
